T&G Web Traffic - Look Out Below?

To the contrary. Traffic is picking up. I'm surprised. Figured the Paywall was gonna deflate their traffic. The pick up may be seasonal. But  long-term?

Based on the total number of comments on the site since August, I'll bet that the revenue from the Paywall is far below expectations. The NYT business folks are pretty savvy, so hopefully their horizon isn't too short. So what if the new business model doesn't pan out?

So what's the T&G got to coerce the locals to fork over their money? Pre Paywall the only thing interesting were the comments. Heck it was the best entertainment in the county. Now its just a handful of commenters and hillbilly country news. There's still Williamson and Clive whats-his-name, and Sutner's  been muzzled. So there's not much to get thrilled about. Is it worth $14.95? Of course not.

The graphs. The top one is saying  that the T&G traffic ranking vis-a-vis the web universe is on average up from mid-August thru mid-September, but significantly down over a 2 year period.

So at the current L/T rate the T&G will wind up with a traffic ranking about 900,000 the end of 2012.
