Interesting Sutner article in the T&G from this past weekend.
I for one think this is a historic moment for Pinkieville, MA aka Worcester, MA. A 15% minority group steps-up to take its place in local politics. But time will tell.
“This PAC’s mission is to promote the nonpartisan political and civic development of our communities. It’s not just about getting people elected to office”, said Marita Cruz, president of the new Adelante Worcester Political Action Committee.
A confusing statement, since Adelante's stated mission, "aims to promote, empower, and advocate on behalf of the Hispanic/Latino community in Worcester." Umm.. if you’re using a PAC to promote solely Hispanic interests, how’s that non-political? Okay, so she's not a political science major.
So does that mean they’re gonna give the local political Pinkies a run for their money?
Hopefully they’ll be up to speed for the November elections.
