Worcester is a veritable jungle of restaurants, slopshops, and fast food chains. Mostly slopshops.
One thing is for sure, Worcester it ain't a mecca of fine dining, for that you have to go to Boston.
And then there's McDonalds!
Worcester Magazine, GoLocal and the Telegram all have their know-nothing reviewers all trying to outdo each other - the review usually turns into an exercise in pretentiousness; all think they know more than the average local who wants nothing more than cheap food. And lots of it. Those reviewers think a $10 hamburger with blue cheese dressing and a tomato slice is better than a
$1 McDonald's double cheeseburger. It ain't.
We say, screw Highland St., screw Shrewsbury St., and screw the Canal District eateries. Prices are overboard, the joints are smelly, parking sucks, and pushy waiters always begging for fat tips.
Not so at McDonalds – friendly staff, no tipping, free parking, its clean, and the best burgers and fries anywhere. Starting at a buck! And they take competitors coupons. Does anyone on Shrewsbury St. do that?
Sure, have it your way, go to Shrewsbury St., sit on the sidewalk, inhale diesel fumes and dine on lousy food.
The locals call that a dining experience. Only in Worcester folks!
