If the T&G sez its so, then it must be so. Better still if the Brookings Institution says so.
So Worcester, MA is a metropolitan area. Um, didn't know we was one. The State of MA doesn't call it that - just Wusta.
So happy days are here again. Jobs for everyone. Watch those tax receipts pour into the city's coffers. Um.. but that's not what the City's forecasting. The CM pitched us a different picture last week - deficits.
Checked out the Brooking Institution, and there it was: Twelve of the 20 strongest-recovering metropolitan areas (... Boston ... Worcester, ...) gained manufacturing jobs since their total employment hit bottom, while manufacturing employment was unchanged in one (Lakeland).
There you have it. Metro Wusta on track to doubling exports... business is picking up, new hirings etc. Um... There's just one problem, it contradicts Mayor Petty & Cohorts campaign rhetoric, which they poured on pretty thick - the sky is falling... businesses are running away. Um gotta ask, what do they know that the Brooking Institution doesn't?
Welcome to Wusta!
