Here's a thought. If we're in a recession, and undoubtedly, locally, a lot of folks are feeling it, and banks are reluctantly lending money to small businesses, for that matter, any business, how then is Worcester going to attract new businesses if the financing isn't available? Is Mayor Joseph M. Petty gonna call Duddie and beg him to open the cash faucets? Assuming Duddie will even take Joe's call.
I'm curious how Mayor Joseph M. Petty is going to sell the city's less than attractive persona to outsiders. Interestingly he hasn't bothered putting out an economic revival plan for public perusal. That’s an ominous sign in itself.
Forget doing the real work of recruiting companies. Admittedly even that would require divine intervention. But hey, why bother? What can a part-time mayor actually contribute, considering he's employed by the state, not the City of Worcester. We’re secondary.
So start praying Wusta homeowners, your days are numbered. Last one out, please turn out the lights.
