It never fails to amuse the locals, they relish the controversy about the The Common's skating rink - took City Hall 5 years and about a million $'s to get this far - a public skating rink in downtown Worcester. According to the CM its a hit.
On Sunday the T&G posted this gem: City manager says that 10,000 people may flock to the rink this season. Really? Just skaters or visitors and skaters? Sumptins not right with that number.
As all things Worcester, this is another instance of malarkey being piled high and no one, not even the less than credible T&G's Nick Kotsopoulos thought to question the manager's innocuous statement. The T&G never does.
We won't go into the math, just do it yourself: 450 a day over 5 hours (90 people a hour on the ice), but factor in the weather conditions, parking, lack of toilets, apathy, and Worcester being Worcester, the math just doesn't add up.
Always thought the Big Guy had credibility, but this one is a whopper.
