NYC Places 870,00 Images On-Line. What About Worcester?

The NYC Online Gallery provides free and open research access to over 800,000 items digitized from the Municipal Archives’ collections, including photographs, maps, motion-pictures and audio recordings.

Sure would be something if the City of Worcester put whatever historical records and photos they have in their archives Online, have City Clerk Rushford open the vault, give the world access to historical documents. But City Hall being City Hall, that would be too much to expect.

If I recall correctly, a couple years ago Rushford refused to send the city's historical documents to the state achieves; since then sitting in City Hall's cellar collecting dust.

Better still if the Worcester Historical Museum put their collection on-line.Is it really "their" collection or does it belong to the citizens of Worcester?

Ever visit the American Antiquarian Society? An immense collection of Americana with very limited public access - scholars only. But public tours of some material is open to the public.
